In 2011, salvaged wood seemed to be quite popular. I liked the material, but wanted to make something large and severe that on a certain level resembled its own source. In doing so, I hoped that being sincere to the material would help negotiate earlier issues I found when trying to appropriate industrial materials into delicate forms.
