I sketched the idea in August 2013, but the piece was not commissioned and completed until May 2015.
I chose white alabaster instead of carrara marble to try and differentiate the piece while maintaining that aesthetic combination of wood and stone.
The alabaster was supposed to be frosted and have nearly a glass-like feel. Unfortunatel and ironically, the quarry sent a glossed piece that ended up looking just like marble.
